Memorex Corporation, founded in 1961, initially successfully entered professional tape media markets. In the mid-1960s Memorex began a strategic plan to enter the computer systems business by first establishing its presence as a supplier of products plug-compatible to IBM systems and then using its established sales and service capabilities to offer complete computer systems. After being acquired by Burroughs in 1981 and merged into Unisys in 1986, in April 2001, Memorex Telex - Systematics AG was taken over by Electronic Data Systems (EDS) to create a subsidiary called Global Field Services (GFS). EDS GFS was a newly branded division of EDS responsible for providing global desktop, maintenance and field support services to the group’s client base (including Technical Infrastructures - around network / security / servers / storage). a&o / EDS GFS was Cisco Gold partner in France and Germany ) In November 2006, a&o group (owned by Michael Muller) acquired EDS GFS operations in Ireland, UK, France, Germany, Iberia and the Netherlands. In 2008 a&o systems+services was sold to a german investor, Orlando Management AG. Orlando Management AG decided to sell the german division to Allgeier Holding AG becoming Solveos IT Solutions in November 2009 after it's bankruptcy, the french entity also filed for bankruptcy in March 2010 and has definitely gone out of business in march 2011. Subsidiaries still exist in UK, ireland and benelux.
