Aarhus Municipality

The City of Aarhus is a politically governed service organisation with 33,000 employees and an annual gross turnover of DKK 21 billion, corresponding to approx. EUR 3 billion. Of the revenue raised, taxes account for around EUR 2 billion, government grants for EUR 0.3 billion and user payments for approx. EUR 1 billion (2009 figures).Aarhus has some 300,000 inhabitants, but the city and the municipality have a close collaboration with a large number of other cities and municipalities, and the Greater Aarhus area has more than one million inhabitants.
