Banco Popolare is a Group made up of large local banks firmly rooted in their communities, with a history of serving families and small businesses. Banco Popolare became a Group on 1 July 2007 with the merger of Banco Popolare di Verona e Novara and the Banca Popolare Italiana. Its history is one of the growth, consolidation the coming together of about 20 local credit institutions, some of which over 150 years old. In the 20th century, and especially after the Second World War, Banca Popolare di Verona, Banca Popolare di Novara, Banca Popolare di Lodi, Credito Bergamasco and the other banks which make up the Banco Popolare Group rooted themselves in their territories promoting the growth of the economy and the local communities. This process represents a common originating pattern upon which the Bank has built its identity and the unity of the Group.
