A sector that was hit particularly hard by the 2008/2009 crisis and is only slowly getting back on its feet, is also the one with most things to prove.

With much of the responsibility for the causes of said financial crisis falling on financial institutions and irresponsible behaviour within businesses, a need for risk management and responsible banking operations is on the rise.

A lot of people who lost their previous job titles went on to new roles that are required by this new order of things, such as finance specialists, risk managers, auditors and advisers.

This is a very challenging industry that has a lot to prove, and small time frames in which to do it.

Those who are still out though, or just entering the profession, face an industry much more competitive than what it was before. High quality skills in your field were always essential but now it is more than ever required of you to be good communicators, team-workers, self-disciplined and motivated to succeed in the industry.
