Iguatemi Empresa de Shopping Centers

Iguatemi was established on May 23, 1979 as a private limited company that, later on, became a corporation on August 11, 1983. It is the company of Grupo Jereissati that operates in the shopping center industry in Brazinl. The group has stakes in undertakings that create over 1,500 direct jobs e more than 11,000 indirect jobs.

The company started its operation in the shopping center sector by acquiring all assets of the construction company Construtora Alfredo Matias S.A., including the stake in Iguatemi Sao Paulo - the first enterprise of this kind built in Brazil in 1966. Currently, Iguatemi holds an effective interest of 50.6% in the business, though - due to contracts not registered at the official Real State Registry - its undivided interest in the respective real estate registry stands at 68.0%.
