Kier Group operates through four main divisions, each focused on being best in its class. Their activities span building, civil engineering, opencast mining, facilities management, residential and commercial property investment and PFI (Private Finance Initiative) project investment. The construction division comprises a UK-wide network of regional contracting business and major projects expertise in the UK and overseas. In support services, the department provide a full life-cycle service for buildings in both public and private sectors including reactive and planned buildings maintenance, grounds maintenance and a host of other services. They have a very prominent private house building and commercial property portfolio. To join Kier as a graduate, you will need a degree in construction related disciplines.  
  As a graduate recruit, you will join the Kier graduate training programme where you will be encouraged to obtain chartered status with the relevant professional institution. Supervision of your training and experience in the first four years after graduation is achieved with the support and help of a dedicated training supervisor who is responsible for your development, and will keep in touch with you throughout your training. Regular discussions are supported by the supervisors’ report on how you are getting on, which will allow training officers to monitor your progress and give advice on training needs. As well as the invaluable experience that can only come from being in at the deep end, in a hands on role on a number of different projects, there are lots of opportunities for off the job training. The graduate and managers’ development programmes will ensure that you attain the skills necessary to progress through to senior management positions within the Group as soon as possible.
