Programmes
We offer programmes for graduates, internships for students and opportunities for post-graduates. We offer two main programmes for graduates, each of which will enable you to progress to a senior role. Whichever one you choose, you’ll benefit from an established career development process that will enhance your abilities and help you achieve your goals. The programmes vary from one another because they’re designed for people with different qualities, skills and ambitions. Both can take you to the top in Rolls-Royce.

Leadership development
This programme is all about finding and nurturing our future leaders. Lasting around 18-24 months, with planned development for a further two years, the programme focuses on developing your leadership ability and professional competence. Learning & development You’ll experience many aspects of our business through three six-month placements. These placements are deliberately designed to stretch you, and you’ll be expected to make a significant contribution to the business from day one. At the same time, your leadership skills will be developed through a series of innovative modules, delivered via training courses and self-directed learning, such as project work. The programme will give you a breadth of experience across different sectors and functions.

As well as developing your expertise across Rolls-Royce, you can forward to the exciting prospect of living and working abroad. Throughout your programme, you’ll receive all the support, encouragement and training opportunities you need to develop world-class leadership skills, including coaching and mentoring from a senior manager, who can help you make the most of your training. Ultimately, you’ll be looking to make a direct contribution to our business by reaching a significant leadership role within five years.

Professional excellence
This programme is all about developing your professional expertise. You’ll become a recognised professional in your chosen field, providing our business with the specialist knowledge and experience that are essential to our success. Learning & development Over the course of 12 – 18 months, you’ll develop invaluable experience and enjoy in-depth training, while working with teams of experienced and well-qualified professionals. You’ll build your knowledge and skills in a variety of hands-on roles across approximately four three-month placements. In some business areas, you’ll have opportunities to travel internationally, and as you progress we’ll want to see you prove yourself in a management role.

Formal, off-the-job training courses will increase your technical knowledge and you’ll have access to additional learning opportunities and the development experiences, support and encouragement you’ll need to become professionally qualified. You’ll also receive coaching and mentoring from senior managers, which will help you gain maximum benefit from the Professional Excellence programme. On its completion, you’ll have excellent, well-developed professional and technical skills, and will be able to continue your personal and professional development in a lead role.

Controls Direct Entry Programme
This programme has been specifically designed to enable high quality engineering graduates with a specific interest in engine controls systems, to become capable Controls Engineers after just six months of intensive training. If you’re chosen to join this programme, you can look forward to taking up a key permanent position in Control Systems Engineering at our UK sites in Derby or Bristol.

Control Systems Engineering is responsible for the control, protection and health monitoring of our engines and comprises the following engineering disciplines:

Learning and development

The programme combines hands-on learning and formal teaching. You will have two three-month placements in two controls engineering teams, working in your chosen discipline. During this training programme we’ll expect you to make a significant contribution to your team’s objectives as well as successfully complete a substantial training portfolio and a process improvement project. This is an intensive and challenging programme that provides both personal and technical development to ensure that after six-months you’re ready for your first permanent role. You will also be assigned specialist support and a personal mentor to ensure that you gain as much as possible from the programme.
