Already the country’s leading nuclear business, we have a fresh sense of ambition that will see us become the most admired and respected nuclear facility in the world. Responsible for the safe delivery of multi-million pound contracts on behalf of the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority, the projects that we’re involved with are globally significant and demand some of the sharpest minds in the business. We are, unique, different and challenging. You will get all the support, training and experience you would expect from a graduate role – but you will work on projects that, frankly, no one would ever expect. Our work can seem bizarre at first (trying to make concrete blocks float for example). Some are fascinating (did you know your lifetime’s energy would produce barely enough waste to fill a golf ball?). Some will just surprise you (bet you didn’t know we used sand from the Mojave Desert in our filtration process). All you need to know is that this is not a normal Graduate scheme. Far from it. In technical terms, Sellafield are positively addressing the legacy of nuclear power generation at Sellafield and from abroad. That means we manage and reprocess nuclear materials, and we are also decommissioning the old generating site. The work is absolutely fascinating. Odd challenges every day and projects that you just couldn’t dream up. The Britain’s Energy Coast Masterplan is a £2 billion package of regeneration projects that build on the area’s globally important expertise and skills. This is an exciting time for the future of West Cumbria and you can be a part of it.

We have a thriving Graduate Community run by an elected group of representative graduates who organise frequent socials and activities ensuring you play as hard as you work! This community is also a point of call for all informal work and chartership questions as they’re one step ahead of you in completing the graduate scheme. MentoringWhile we are keen to ensure that the social aspect of your programme is covered, we've got an equally strong mentoring framework in place to ensure you get as much support when it comes to your professional development. Your mentor is basically there to help you get the most out of the programme. Working closely with you and your line manager they'll help identify and meet your ongoing development needs, fulfilling the standards expected by professional institutions for accreditation. You will also have a graduate buddy from the previous year’s intake, who is there to help you on an informal basis. Your buddy will get in touch with you prior to starting with Sellafield Ltd, and will continue to be a useful point of contact throughout your two years on the graduate scheme.
