Max Sherburne

Roles and responsibilities included manning the till, ensuring stock availability on the shop floor, advising and serving customers. During exceptionally busy times (i.e. Saturdays Christmas and the Sales period) it was imperative to work as a tight knit team as the entire day’s success relied entirely on the co-operation of all employees.

This was my first full time job and a great learning experience. My role included: building up and stripping down motor bikes, running reliability checks on the bikes and testing their performance and cleaning and polishing them ready for delivery. Also, helping senior members of staff when necessary. During this time I not only gained valuable technological skills but enjoyed essential teamwork practise. We all had to work together to meet demanding deadlines, working as a team was completely necessary for efficiency.

This was a relatively small store with a compact team, all staff shared responsibility for a wide range of tasks in the store including: sales, working on tills and on the shop floor, processing deliveries, sorting stock, marketing, changing displays, cashing up and generally keeping the store in an efficient state even at busy times. Consequently, it was at game Chorley that I gained most of my experience in the gaming retail industry.
