I am currently in Yangon, Myanmar for the World Economic Forum and annual gathering of the Young Global Leaders.

It is a fascinating time and moment in history for Myanmar. The country is going through two major transformations - both economic and political transformation. The country has been closed to the economic world until just two years ago.

One of the things that everyone notices about Myanmar is that it is a values driven country. We can all learn from Myanmar and its values driven culture. However, this does pose a challenge for Myanmar as it deals with the political and economic transformation. The country is opening up to the extremes of capitalism but still does not have the skills in its own human capital to compete with its neighbouring economies.

We are having the opportunity this week to meet the legendary democRead moreratic leader and Nobel Peace Prize winner - Aung San Suu Kyi. I will share more about Myanmar and what we are learning through the week. In particular I will be focusing on the challenges of the Myanmar education system.

@Lucian Where does the country want to head? Does it want to become more commercially focused or simple upgrade its economy to more bearable levels? What were its goals when it opened up economically two years ago?

Find your inner idea editor. Don't try to do everything yourself. When leading a team, channel your inner Steve Jobs (i.e., be 100% product focused). These three principles guided David Karp, the very young founder of Tumblr, and now the very rich founder. Of the three, I find the "find your inner idea editor" most powerful. I had not thought of that role on a team before and I will from now on. What about you?
        • 3 Leadership Lessons From Tumblr's David Karp

In its early days in 2007, blogging platform Tumblr was a two-person operation: founder David Karp and lead developer Marco Arment. Now that Tumblr is being acquired by media giant Yahoo Inc. for $1.1 billion in cash, Arment has written a post on his personal blog recalling his memories of working with Karp and of building and growing Tumblr.

        Hello BNT,

Today I'd like to share a personal thought.

It's been around 3 months since I've started my new job. I have a habit of demanding myself to do a lot, to achieve a lot, or to achieve something and I haven't been producing results that I wanted and have been stressed and disappointed in myself.

There has been absolutely no pressure to whether I produce results from my team leader or senior management.

In one of our weekly meetings I addressed my problem to my team leader and naturally my boss was aware of it.

One day he took me out to coffee for an hour to have a chat. And what can I say, I cannot express how grateful I am to have a leader as a boss.

He addressed my problem and said there's no pressure to whether I'm performing and understand that I'm still new and the work I have at hand is difficult to produceRead moreresults that I wanted.

I always had a little thought in my head. Once, I was told that I was not fit to be a recruitment consultant because I'm "too nice".

And my boss? All he wanted to know was whether I was happy at work and happy to work at his company. To both I said yes. And that was what he was concerned about the most. Not about whether I'm producing results at this stage, but whether I am content and happy in the environment I'm in. He suggested that I see completion of each process a result and be happy if I feel I've done well, rather than the whole picture at the moment; if I enjoyed the process, then I will naturally produce results.

And adding to all of that, he has shown sincere appreciation for my work since I've started, something I haven't expected because none of my previous employers have done so, and because the things I do, well, it's what any consultant would do. Which is why this means even more to me, and I can understand why the people at my company are happy and stable people who bring in more and more revenue for the company.

That's my little story. BNT, have you ever worked for a leader?

by Vache Moroyan | "Content is key" could be the most-used, yet least-measured saying in the online world. Ok, so you need content, and it should be good content if you want visitors to engage, subscribe, buy or otherwise convert. But how do you quantify the quality of your content?

          Lucian Tarnowski
People used to say Content is King. However, I think now we a inundated with content. I believe today Context is King. Surely the best way to quantify quality content is its contextual relevance to the audience you are trying to engage. I think similarly it's the difference between information and knowledge.

A great social learning community needs to be nurtured and actively managed, there are some people great at it at this point - but more and more are starting to learn about it. I would say we are on the right track now :)

Empathy. "How can you walk in someone else's shoes if you can't get out of your chair?" I believe that the inability to view a situation from multiple vantage points disables many individuals in the professional world. I am usually passionate about my stance in most situations; however, I work hard to view it from mulitple stances. I don't always succeed but it's a good aspiration!
          • Why Empathy Is The Force That Moves Business Forward

Jayson Boyers (@jaysonboyers) argues that behind every successful business, you are likely to find a leader who has mastered the skill of empathy. One of the hallmarks of a successful business is its ability to harness creativity to constantly push into new territory. Without growth and innovation, businesses stagnate and eventually fade away.

This is very innovative. It's like the travel equivalent of India's Flipkart that allows you to purchase goods and pay cash on delivery. It's interesting to see how technologies are so often taking us back to the future - where we are going forward to how things used to be but now in a technology enabled way.
