Sophie Lancaster
An enthusiastic, confident and successful ex-teacher looking for a new direction.
I've taken the brave decision to leave teaching and find something new to put my mind to. I have many transferable skills and want to find a career that really ignites my passion, as teaching did.

Catholic High School, Head of Music, Cheadle Hulme
September 2010 to June 2011
St James' Catholic High School, Cheadle Hulme
In my current post I have been in charge of the music department as a whole at a mixed, 11 - 16 comprehensive school where music and the performing arts are an integral part of school life. This includes writing and constantly developing the relevant curricula and resources for the five different year groups, including the GCSE Music course. In Easter of this year, the department was given a suite of 10 iMacs, meaning that I had to change and update my schemes of work to include Music Technology as this is on the Curriculum for Music.
As the only teacher of the subject I have been in control of every aspect, from the day-to-day teaching to the running of the many extra-curricular clubs and managing the team of instrumental teachers, including their timetabling and liaising with parents. It was also part of my responsibilities to oversee and operate within the Music budget. -
