While working for Natixis and on the trade floor in the London Metal Exchange, my role was to observe the London Metal Exchange trading environment and to gain an insight into how base metals are traded. I helped the back office staff on the trade floor while gaining knowledge on how the matching and clearing system worked and how to check deals with other ring members. All in which helped me gain an insight into the trading environment and gave me experience of a truly fast paced dynamic working environment.

Key responsibilities involved shadowing and assisting trader clerks in the base metal department. I was responsible in assisting clerks in running the dealers cards and worked with the commentary clerk when communicating with the international offices on up to date price movements.

Skills Gained: Through working in a respectable, leading food retailer while studying my degree, it has taught me the effectiveness and importance of time management. Through working in a department that has strict time deadlines to adhere to, it demonstrates that I am a reliable, trustworthy and a responsible person as I have to interact with customers, make practical decisions when needed, and complete tasks when set.

Furthermore, I am till trained which shows I am confident when working with money and I am familiar with interacting with many different people.

For the past three years I have represented Frames Direct at both the Ideal Home and Grand Design Exhibitions. My role is to promote the company and demonstrate products to the general public making appointments for their sales team. I have also worked in their showroom in South Ruislip inputting leads taken from the show onto their data base, calling potential customers to talk about their projects and updating the system accordingly. This has given me the skills and ability to work with people at all levels both face to face and on the telephone.
