  • Databuild Ltd., assistant analyst, Birmingham

    August 2009 to September 2009

    Databuild Ltd.
    I was employed part time as an assistant analyst by Databuild Ltd, a market research
    company in Birmingham. While working for Databuild, I introduced a number of more
    efficient ways to use their statistics package - for example, using Python to automate
    effectively some time consuming tasks.

  • Paxton and Whitfield, sales assistant, Birmingham

    February 2006 to December 2008

    Paxton and Whitfield
    I had a Saturday job as a sales assistant at Paxton and Whitfield, a luxury cheese shop,
    for which I had to acquire extensive product knowledge and customer service skills.

    PROJECTS C++ Machine Learning Library
    I've recently started work on a C++ library to build machine learning based data
    solutions in various scripting languages. The algorithms used include SVM, linear
    regression, naive bayes and deep belief networks.

    Python Computer Vision
    I have an early stage project which uses Python and OpenCV to classify images using
    SURF feature extraction and classification algorithms.

    CATAM Projects
    As part of my university course, I wrote a variety of programs to compute solutions to
    mathematical problems. These problems covered areas including optimisation, linear
    algebra, probability, graph theory and cryptography and were solved using both Matlab
    and C++.
