Ridzki Samsulhadi

Just an ordinary man...

People said that I am smart. Furthermore, I also have a lot of self-confidence. I always enjoy talking in front of people, such as teaching, doing presentations, or giving speeches. I'm not a kind of guy who can give up easily. No matter how hard a task is, I will complete it one way or another. I always aim to be the best in everything, and pull everybody up to be the best along with me. Please vote and donate (optional) for me. I need €3000 to be selected as the One Young World Leader. I was born in Jakarta, Indonesia. When I was a boy, I used to be an introvert boy. Being shy, passive, and pessimist was my previous personality. The transformation time came after I graduate from my senior high school in 2006. For my bachelor's degree, I entered a university outside my hometown, Depok, which is the Gadjah Mada University in Yogyakarta, Indonesia. I took a Computer Science major there. That was my first experience living alone far from home. I barely survived in the first few months, mentally and financially. I experienced a very bad homesick, and I couldn't even focus on my study. However, after the first 6 months, finally I could overcome those problems. I was able to managed my life better than before, and raised my grade in the university. Great things started happening just right after I finally could manage my life independently. First, I decided to apply into another university. in 2007, I left the Gadjah Mada University, and entered Centre for Computing and Information Technology (CCIT), University of Indonesia. CCIT was just a 2 year Diploma program, not a bachelor program. But, entering CCIT had become my turning point of life. I felt much more mature after I left the Gadjah Mada University. One year live alone there had given me so many chances to see the world in a totally different perspective. Before entering CCIT, I'd never got any achievements in my life, including in my study. In CCIT, I was always one of the best students. I was always the best in my class, and I was the third best student in my 3rd semester in CCIT. Everytime I had to do group based projects or presentations, I almost always led my group. Summer 2009, I graduated from CCIT with cumulative GPA of 3.75. From CCIT, Indonesia, I was transfered to the University of Lethbridge, Canada to take my bachelor's degree of Computer Science. I have been living in Canada for about 4 months, but I've never got any homesick syndrome from the first day I arrived in Canada. My experience of living alone in Yogyakarta, indeed, help a lot. Compared to Yogyakarta, Canada is not only outside my hometown, but also outside my country. While a trip to Yogyakarta spend only 1 - 2 hours from my hometown by a plane, a trip to Canada spend about 20 hours from Indonesia. I face a totally different culture in Canada, but I got settled with everything much faster than when I was in Yogyakarta. On my first semester in the University of Lethbridge, I could easily compete with all of my friends. I could confidently become myself without any hesitation in Canada. And today, I can feel that I have become even more mature than when I was still staying in Indonesia.
