One thing I've noticed is that leaders can't be all things to all people. I've met people who are brilliant communicators, capable of explaining their vision and your place in it. But they lacked the capacity to delegate and manage people effectively. It is obviously a question of identifying the leaders' skills gaps, and putting other people in them.

Does this make them a better, or worse leader?

I've also met great leaders who weren't the big event grand vision delivery types. They were great at leading from the front line. Everybody has their personal style,. The wisdom is in knowing what your style is and knowing that you can't be all things to all people, then surrounding yourself with the people who are great at what you suck at.

Does this make them a better, or worse leader?

Isn't that very subjective? For me the greatest leaders are the ones who didn't set out to lead anyonRead moree, they are simply driven to achieve their goals and as a consequence are followed.

People who lack the capacity to delegate and manage people effectively can not be called bad leaders, they shouldn't be associated with a name, probably....

Great book! I read it a short while ago, and I wrote down this great quote from it: "The kernel of a strategy contains three elements: a diagnosis, a guiding-policy and a coherent action. The guiding-policy specifies an approach to dealing with the obstacles called out in the diagnosis."
