Ian OBrien
Ian is a confident self starter, with a proven background in delivering transformational bids and projects; with the required qualifications
Ian O’Brien has worked in an array of roles across project and programme management. Ian excelled through the BT Graduate programme; where his roles included delivering commercial bids, implementing governance, risk and resource management, delivering a Project Management Service. Ian recent roles have included managing a £1.5m building rationalisation project and delivering transformation projects from idea through to business case, onto delivery and into service; Ian has also managed and owned the Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) integration programme across the Rotherham MBC strategic contract. Ian has substantial experience within the public sector with a focus on local government transformation including bids and delivery. Ian is a qualified PRINCE2 practitioner, APM Practitioner and MSP Foundation; he has a 2:1 Business Degree with Hons. Ian is keen to return to university in the near future to complete an MSc. Outside of work, Ian has a passion for helping young people develop, both personally and as a part of society. He is a group leader of a charity called HCPT - Group 40 (www.group40.co.uk); that takes disabled and disadvantaged children away to Lourdes in France for a weeklong holiday at Easter time. This involves fundraising over £18,000 each year, organising a group of 15 volunteers and then caring for a child for the week away. This enhances Ian’s skills, allowing the interchange and growth of skills and experience both inside and outside of work. This work provides an experience that cannot be replicated and provides a real reality check of what some people are forced to deal with in their lives. Outside work, Ian is a keen sportsman and enjoys golf, football, trekking and running as well as keeping himself fit. This also involves a lot of sponsored events for both the charity he works for and others he is involved in; this has seen him complete a mini triathlon in Liverpool as a disabled entrant, take a disabled friend to the top of Mount Snowdon and complete a 50km endurance “push” in a wheelchair
