I have been a trainer in global businesses since 1994. I love being in the classroom and working with learners of all types and experiences
I have had a passion for training since 1994. I began my career in a Singapore-based technology company as a technical trainer working with new employees and helping them to learn what they needed to be successful in their roles. Three years later I moved to IBM where I spent the first 2 years of my time teaching purely technical subjects. I then assumed team leadership responsibility for a team of technical trainers for 2 years while still teaching classes. After that I became manager of the training group leading a team of 22 professional trainers. I now had direct responsibility for the learning and development needs of a population of 1,500 employees spread across three business units of IBM. I was responsible for training planning, skills development and assessment, staff hiring and development, curriculum development, future skills strategy, budgeting and expense controls, training administration and quality control, as well as continuing to deliver classes. At this stage I has shifted my focus away from technical subjects to teaching personal skills and management development subjects. Since 2002 I have almost exclusively taught management and personal skills programmes. I have been certified as a master trainer twice and have successfully completed professional coach training and an MBA at Henley Management College in the UK.
