I hold a Master of Science degree in Chemical Engineering at the University of Cape Town (South Africa). I was one of the few graduates who get exposure to the amazing world of research from the second year of undergraduate study, and has never looked back since then. After graduating from my junior degree I undertook a 5 months research project on the effects of chlorinated hydrocarbons on our water. My duties involved literature search and compiling reports on work done on the field thus far. I then enrolled for an Honours degree and my research project focused on the risk assessment of Urine Diversion (UD) toilets' operation and maintenance on the community of the Durban peri-urban areas. This was a valuable piece of research in that Durban municipality had just implemented above 40 000 toilets of this nature. I then managed a project investigating the reuse of nutrients
